We offer you our long experience on the fishmarket. Our shop on the Vienna Naschmarkt exists since 1876 and is a family business in the 5th generation. We are devoted to quality and absolute freshness – no matter if you are looking for fish, shellfish, lobster or caviar. Therefore we offer only selected products of superior quality, which we import directly from our partners. A wide selection of wild, rod-caught fish from Marocco is offered in our shop, a quality you will find nowhere else in Austria.
The history of Fisch-Gruber goes back to 1876 when Laura Laula Lämmermann founded her fish-business on the old Naschmarkt at the Freihausplatz in Vienna. Since then the vat with carps is trademark of Fisch-Gruber. Her daughter Luise began importing seafish from Italy by coach.
After the war, in 1956, Helene Maisinger took over the shop in the 3rd generation. In the tradition of the typical „Marktstandlerinnen“ (saleswomen on the market) she developed a successful business, both with humor and charmant dominance.
In 1971 Hella and Erich Gruber began to import fish from international Partners. The concept turned out to be successful and the shop grew continuously – to be one of the most traditional and successful family businesses in Vienna.
Since 1997 Wolfgang Gruber took over the shop, now being the 5th generation of the Lämmermann-Gruber family. Not only familiar with the world of fish and fishery from his childhood on, his passion is his wonderful product. He gets the strength for his work from his customers, many of them loyal for years and decades.
Today, Fisch-Gruber on the Naschmarkt offers the widest selection of living fish in Vienna: Not only living turbot, zander, trout, eel, catfish, carp and car – but also living shellfish like lobster and spiny lobster swim in our basins. Our fish from Marocco comes only 24-36 hours after catching into our shop – a quality Vienna hasn’t seen before! Every week there are several deliveries to guarantee maximal freshness and quality!
